Elects Dynamic 2025 Leadership Team to Drive Industry Innovation

WASHINGTON, DC – January 9, 2025 – The Fiber Optic Sensing Association (FOSA), the nation’s premier trade association dedicated to fiber optic sensing, today announced an accomplished slate of officers and board members for 2025, positioning the organization for continued growth in emerging markets. The elections, held during FOSA’s Annual Meeting in December, reflect the organization’s commitment to advancing fiber optic sensing technology across diverse industries.

The newly elected officers bring decades of combined experience in fiber optic sensing, telecommunications, and advanced technology deployment. Jon Beckman, Director of Business Operations at VIAVI Solutions, will serve as Chairman, alongside Nilson Gabela, Global Market and Technology Manager at Corning Incorporated, as Vice Chairman. Steven Koles, President and CEO of Hifi, will serve as Treasurer, with Amanda Hetzel, Director of Business Operations of Network Integrity Systems as Secretary.

Eight distinguished industry leaders were elected to two-year board terms, joining three continuing directors. The expanded board represents a cross-section of expertise in software solutions, AI integration, IoT applications, and advanced sensing technologies.

“The past year has seen unprecedented growth in fiber optic sensing applications across critical infrastructure, smart cities, and industrial automation,” said outgoing FOSA Chairman Paul Dickinson. “This diverse and experienced leadership team is perfectly positioned to guide our industry through its next phase of innovation and market expansion.”

Incoming chairman Jon Beckman of VIAVI added: “As we enter 2025, the opportunities for fiber optic sensing have never been greater. Our new board brings together visionary leaders from across the industry, united in their commitment to advancing sensing technologies that will shape the future of infrastructure monitoring, security, and environmental protection.”
